New Physical Law

I was discussing with a friend last evening about cleaning my room and how I was making good progress at it. My friend informed me that she was experiencing just the opposite. Her room was getting messier by the day. I pondered over this event and realized that mess is also governed by a law. I don't know if this law is already well known, however, I would like to quote it in my own words:

Law of Conservation of Mess:
"Mess can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be transferred from one room to another."

So to all of those who feel dejected because your room is in a sorry state, don't panic. Just realize that it is a law of nature!!!

Back in town

Got back from a long vacation back home in Chennai. Trying to get around the hangover of leaving home. Guess things will get back to normal after I get to work on Monday. Had a really nice time visiting friends and relatives in India. The sweets and savories should last a few weeks...mmmmmmmh.

Found this to be the cutest pic of the lot. With my dad's cousin's kid - Ria.

Thinking of getting back to work on Monday seems to be a daunting task. But I guess once I get started things will move on.

Voip Update - Nonoh

For all those who use Voip I just came across a provider called Nonoh (probably a competitor of Jajah). This provider is really interesting because I get to call India for around 3 cents/minute.

Check it out:

One dream comes true

It was exciting to read that the Tamilnadu Government has finally thought about erecting desalination plants along our coast to put a 'partial' end to the misery of water scarcity. This was actually one of my dreams to end our total dependence on the monsoon for our water supply. It's not rocket science to conclude that a country like India which is surrounded by water on 3 sides should use the sea as its water source. Now, it's just my hope and prayer that this project should not just remain on paper but must be immediately put into action. Imagine getting a liter of water for 4 paise (0.07 cent)? Sounds like magic? Then read this.

Sleeping with the Doll

Now they have dolls being used to do the 'thing'. I guess man is becoming more and more isolated from the society he lives in. Read this shocking article that I came across. I guess this whole idea seems to have captured a market which means big business. At least thats what this article says.

Spectacular Rainbow

This is a picture of a beautiful rainbow taken by my friend Paul just a couple of minutes ago. I missed seeing it coz the window in my room faces the sunset. Anyway I'm happy my friend managed to capture it just at the right moment. Feels so blessed to be able to witness such splendid beauty.

Sunny Days ahead

Yippeeee. It's been a rather cold summer this year, but things seem to be getting better from today. I guess I'm gonna be sweating it out this Sunday when the temperature crosses the critical 30°C mark. Actually forecast is for 32.

This weekend I'm going to Ulm which is a small city in my state of BW. Guess its going to be a wonderful trip with beautiful weather. A noted landmark of this city is its cathedral. It's the tallest in the world!

Will post more after I get back. Till then, enjoy the sunshine!

Munich Zoo Visit

Here is a video from my visit to the Munich zoo last Friday. This was part of the 'Summer Fest' organized by my company. It sure was a lot of fun, the highlights being watching the Lions have fun (literally) at close range and biting a Python's tail (absolutely no kidding). You can find more info about the Munich zoo here.

Hi to everyone. I'm really sorry to say that I have been forced to enable comment moderation due to a sick assh*le who was commenting anonymously and later started using fake names. Sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but I didn't find any other way out of this.

Konkan TV

I happened to come across a site for all video files in 'Konkani'. I was so delighted to see the songs and videos from a lot of people especially those of Wilfy (popular Konkani singer). I enjoyed the comedies as well.

You can check it out here: http://konkan.tv/

It has been such a long time since I got to see something from my own hometown. This has really been a treasured find from the vast ocean of the internet.

Watch out!!!

You're sure to hear the title screamed into your ears by the passengers in your car when you're trying to multi-task while driving. I came across this article in yahoo which really shows how careless people have become not just about their own lives but also that of others.

I would like to quote a few lines of this article that really shows that it's not exactly the attitude of the driver but the pressures of modern-day living.

....."Clearly Americans have much to do and little time to do it, so to cope with that we've become multi-taskers,".....

...."Imagine if you're going 55 miles an hour down the road and you spill something on your suit and you have a meeting that day -- you're going to be more worried about grabbing a napkin than watching the road," said Guile. "But it just takes a split second to look away and there's an accident.".....

....."I have put on lipstick in the car," Braboy, 55, said with a laugh. "And I might try to look for something in my purse, which I know is dangerous.".....

I just hope this situation improves and people start driving with a sense of responsibility. However, the root cause of this problem is the fast paced lifestyle, which needs to be addressed, if we need a permanent solution.

However, a much better solution of the future would be to completely take the human being out of the driver's seat and transfer control to a computer. A more apt way to say that would be, "Never send a human to do a machine's job!!!"

Quo Vadis Winter?

It's past mid Jan this year and I still don't see any signs of snow. The local temperatures are hovering around 10°C (50°F), that's way too warm for winter. I really wonder what is happening. Maybe the threats of global warming are beginning to act up. Whatever it is, I miss the snow this winter. I hope that we atleast have a good summer this year. Guess it would be apt to sing ... Winds of Change ... right now!

New Year Resolution???

I'm not the kind who makes New Year resolutions, but this time I thought why not? The basic need for a resolution is to bring about a change. This change for me in 2007 will be in the OS that I use. Yes, I'm planning to give the Linux world a try from the next year.

I got to know about a latest flavor of Linux for the desktop called Ubuntu. I went through the site and found out some info about it and was pretty much impressed. I even burnt a Live-CD which can be used to try out all the features without actually installing anything on your harddisk. I'm planning to install a dual-boot scheme with WinXP and Ubuntu on my laptop.

I'm pretty new to the Linux world but I must say that Ubuntu is pretty impressive. I think this flavor will remove the fear of Linux from people like me. What I always wanted was the interactive GUI based interface of Windows along with the stability of Linux. I'm not very comfortable with CLIs and find them to be a little boring (read difficult to handle).

Anyway, I hope you would also try out Ubuntu to get a feel of the Linux world. There are a lot of things to discover in that new universe. However, there is a big risk in it. Guess what??? ....... You may never wanna get back to Windows ever!!!

Wish you a Spectacular New Year 2007!!!
