Autohotkey (another step towards laziness)

For all those who feel that changing the status of your chat client is just too much of work, Autohotkey is just the tool for you. This is a powerful scripting tool which can automate almost any task which needs to be done with the mouse or keyboard. Not just that, you can also design a GUI if you are too lazy (like me :D) to remember keyboard shortcut combinations. The scripting language is pretty simple and the command list is well documented with suitable examples. Moreover, this tool is free and open source, so it can be used for personal as well as official purposes.

Happy lazing!!!

High tech call transfer

I happened to call up a friend who was staying at a guest house in Calcutta last week. I called up the reception and asked the gentleman in a calm voice, "Hello, could you please connect me to Room No. 5" and I promptly got the reply, "Yes Sir. Just a moment." After that I didn't hear any beeps or interruptions and in under a minute I heard the 'hello' from my friend. I continued my normal conversation.

Just before I could hang up, I told my friend, "I was really impressed with the line connection system at your guest house. It was so clean, I didn't hear any beeps, ringing sound, no hold tune, no auto voice response, just nothing..." and before I could complete my friend started laughing so loudly. I felt so silly about my comment, but couldn't help asking, "Pardon my ignorance, but could I know what is so funny?" and I got the reply, "The reception has a cordless telephone. So when the guy asked you to wait, he actually took the cordless phone, came up to my room and handed over the phone to me."

Hmm. I'm sure no other technology can beat this call transfer.

Best pic of my trip

This is by far the best pic of my trip to India. This was taken when I visited Ooty on a small hill on the way to Coonoor. Jumping along with me is my bro. It took atleast 15 shots before we got the perfect one.

New Physical Law

I was discussing with a friend last evening about cleaning my room and how I was making good progress at it. My friend informed me that she was experiencing just the opposite. Her room was getting messier by the day. I pondered over this event and realized that mess is also governed by a law. I don't know if this law is already well known, however, I would like to quote it in my own words:

Law of Conservation of Mess:
"Mess can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be transferred from one room to another."

So to all of those who feel dejected because your room is in a sorry state, don't panic. Just realize that it is a law of nature!!!

Back in town

Got back from a long vacation back home in Chennai. Trying to get around the hangover of leaving home. Guess things will get back to normal after I get to work on Monday. Had a really nice time visiting friends and relatives in India. The sweets and savories should last a few weeks...mmmmmmmh.

Found this to be the cutest pic of the lot. With my dad's cousin's kid - Ria.

Thinking of getting back to work on Monday seems to be a daunting task. But I guess once I get started things will move on.

Voip Update - Nonoh

For all those who use Voip I just came across a provider called Nonoh (probably a competitor of Jajah). This provider is really interesting because I get to call India for around 3 cents/minute.

Check it out:

Just a small bicycle trip through the beautiful town of Kerpen (near Cologne).
